It is a holiday originating from ancient pagan traditions that were Christianized by the Catholic Church. The first historical evidence of Mardi Gras traditions in America dates to 1699 by French explorers near the Mississippi River, about 60 miles south of present day New Orleans. The Carnival season begins on January 6, the Twelfth Night feast of the Epiphany. According to Christian beliefs, the Epiphany is the day that the three kings, or Wise Men, visited the Christ Child. Women wore suits with long hemlines and somewhat full skirts, often with belts at the waist of the jackets. Dress and suit bodices alike were worn loose, even baggy. They also would have the "earphone" hairstyle popular in the early 1920s, also known as cootie garages. In the 1920s some of the most exciting and memorable elements in America are the trends. The most famous people of the 1920s were flappers. These women set fashion trends, a new woman was born. She smoked, drank, danced, and voted. She cut her hair, wore make-up, and went to petting parties. She was giddy and took risks. The new sound of jazz first spread across America in the early twentieth-century.

At sock hops teenagers would gather around the record player to spin their 78s and 45s. Sock Hops were an opportunity to dance and be carefree. The 60's revolutionary ideas are continuing today. This was also a time to party hard. From 1876 through 1879, the game was rugby, with only a few minor American embellishments. But during the next four years (1880-1883), all this would change. Walter Camp contributed some of the changes from Rugby and Soccer to American football. The first thing that Walter Camp changed was that one side retained undisputed possession of the ball, until that side gives up the ball as a result of its own violations.Walter also changed the line of scrimmage, and 11 players on a team instead of 15.Camp created the quarter-back and center positions, forward pass, standardized the scoring system, numerical scoringand the safety, interference, penalties, and the neutral zone for football. A touchdown increased in value to six points and field goals went down to three pointsin 1912.

100th Birthday
A 100th Birthday is the celebration of a century of living. It is special centennial that few humans reach. To live 100 years one has traverse 10 generations of humans. In the not so distant pass the average American Male was expected to live to be 40-50 years of ages during the early part of the twentieth century. The exact duration of human life is unknown, although there is presumably a maximum life span for the human race established in our genetic material. The maximum length of human life is rising steadily and there may no limit to how long people can live. The longest lived person born in 1756 died in 1857 at the age of 101. The longest lived person born in 1884 died in 1993 at the age of 109. Seniors today are benefiting from the fact they were not as sick when they were children as in past generations. These changes in medical advances like vaccines for small pox and other childhood illnesses took place 80 to 100 years ago. During the twentieth century the human life span increased by more than 50 percent in most industrialized countries. Human progress is real, somehow. We are changing the limits of human life span over time. A large number of older people allowed early modern humans to accumulate more information and to transmit specialized knowledge from one generation to another. Our Seniors strengthen social relationships and kinship bonds, as grandparents survived to educate and contribute to extended families and others. When asked the secret to longevity many 100 year olds replied, I accentuate the positive. Could this be the secret to reaching the magical 100th Birthday, to keep ones thought focused and mind on the silver lining rather than the rain cloud. Is it a matter or mind over matter? I guess the only way to find out is to have your own 100th Birthday Party. 100th Birthday party supplies like paper plates, napkins, and cups are a perfect way to complete a 100th Birthday Party Theme. Party decorations like inflatables, and beads ad to the magic of 100th Birthday. 100th Birthday loot bags tucked in basket can be a centerpiece and double as party prizes. Party favors like masks and glow jewelry will create festive energetic spirit of a 100th Birthday Party Theme.

The celebration begins when you start the party planning.
