The Hanukkah Dreidel Game
One of the best known Hanukkah games is the Dreidel. The winner would often receive money (Hanukkah gelt). Over time, the gambling terms were reinterpreted to stand for the Hebrew phrase Nes Gadol Hayah Sham, “A great miracle happened there.” Even an ordinary game of chance was invested with Jewish values and served to remind Jews of the important message of Hanukkah.
Today, Jewish children throughout the world continue to enjoy the game of dreidel at Hanukkah parties and at home.

Kwanzaa Celebration Activities
The history of Kwanzaa started with Maulana Karenga, an African-American scholar and activist, who conceived Kwanzaa in 1966 following the Watts riot. Kwanzaa's ancient roots lie in African first-fruit harvest celebrations, from which it takes its name. A non-religious holiday, Kwanzaa celebrates African-American heritage, pride, community, family, and culture. The seven-day Kwanzaa festivities commence the day after Christmas and culminates on New Year's Day.
Kwanzaa is simply a time for African-American people to reaffirm their ancestors and culture. Kwanzaa, which means "first fruits of the harvest" in the African language, Kiswahili, has gained tremendous acceptance. Kwanzaa has come to be observed by more than a million people worldwide, as reported by the New York Times.

Hanukkah: A Complex Celebration
The Hanukkah holiday, also known as the Festival of Lights is a Jewish holiday that encompasses eight days of celebration. The holiday was called Hanukkah which translates loosely to “dedication.” The holiday is held to mark the rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem and the Miracle of the Oil witnessed after the victory of the Maccabees over the Seleucid Empire.
Gifts are exchanged during the celebration of Hanukkah including Hannukkah gelt game (money) which is given to children to encourage them to give part of their wealth to charity. Traditional games including Spin the Dreidel are also part of the Hanukkah celebration.
