Thanksgiving Party Supplies

When planning a Thanksgiving theme party, it is very important to pay attention to all the details, including, and especially, the Thanksgiving party supplies. The party supplies are key to throwing a successful party. Party supplies set the mood and solidify the theme of a well planned party. Yet, too often the party supplies are a spur of the moment purchase with little effort or thought even given to the decision of what to buy. And, too often the last minute purchase results in a purchase from a mass retailer’s superstore or a discount outlet; both, of which, will have a limited amount of options to choose from.

Let’s consider for a moment what exactly are party supplies? Well, party supplies include the napkins, table coverings, plates, tableware, cups, crepe paper streamers, Thanksgiving party supplies, balloons, and more. All the visual aspects that pull everything together, that is what makes up the party supplies.

So, if you agree that maybe a quick run to the discount store will not ensure the selection or quality of party supplies that you want for the special day you have planned – then where should you look? Well, many consumers just like you have learned that some of the best resources for birthday party supplies can be found online. With their lower overhead costs, they are as inexpensive as the local discount store but they have a huge selection. The reliability and quality of online vendors for party supplies are guaranteed to be as good or better than that you could get from your local discount store and there is no compromise required. You get exactly what you want, and what you need, to create a memorable party.

Creating a Thanksgiving Prayer

Whether your Thanksgiving prayer is traditional, a few words spoken by each person gathered around a table brimming with bounty, a poem recited to express thanks, or one to lighten the mood and give us the gift most cherished of all, a smile and a laugh, or poems of religious specificity, Thanksgiving prayers are a tradition at any Thanksgiving theme party. Whether you are a believer or not, it is a terrific time to speak a few words to let those you hold most dear know how thankful you are to have them in your life.

Whatever you choose to use as your Thanksgiving prayer make it something that will be remembered and passed on. You want a tradition of sorts to be occurring for this holiday. You want to have something that you will all remember and can recite at your meal so as to inspire all. It is something that you as a family would partake in and that everyone can follow along with. Your prayer can be based on whatever you want it to be. There are no rules in regards to this. It is up to you what you make it and what you want it to become. You can start new traditions or use simple prayers that are standard. Or you can be creative and have your prayer simply be having everyone who is there for the celebration to announce what they are most thankful for and ask for a blessing. You can even include a Thanksgivng prayer in your Thanksgiving invitations.

We all do have traditional prayers based on religion, or simply speeches giving thanks for the blessings in our lives, and letting those we love, who are gathered together to celebrate the spirit of love and togetherness, as well as the blessings we have received throughout the year. Thanksgiving prayers can be organized, planned, traditional, religious, or secular. The real importance is celebrating blessings, large and small, in your Thanksgiving prayer.

Selecting the Perfect Thanksgiving Invitations

There are many sources for Thanksgiving invitations, from buying simple ones at the store, to creating your own computer generated cards and printing them on card stock, to being creative and crafting unique Thanksgiving party invitations limited only by your own imagination. Thanksgiving party invitations can be found in the card section of local department stores, and they range from bright and funny to classically designed, rich looking cards.

Thanksgiving card designs can be found online. Many of the ones you find online are free, and you can even personalize them, and just print them off on your home printer. You can indlude a Thanksgiving word scramble in the invitation to get the guests in the holiday spirit. Many internet sites also offer Thanksgiving party invitations and Thanksgiving decorations you can look through and purchase online. If you order online, just be certain to check for delivery times, allowing yourself plenty of time to receive the invitations, and get them out well ahead of time. Also, don’t feel bad about including an RSVP card and self addressed stamped envelope, and following up, if they are not returned. Knowing ahead of time helps in planning the party. You might also consider sending reminders the week before the party. Thanksgiving is a hectic time for everyone, and it is easy to forget. By following up, you can just double check the guest lists to be sure you have adequate supplies of necessary items, or are not left with things you cannot use later.

Deciding the theme of your Thanksgiving party will help you choose the perfect invitations, and many Thanksgiving poems, both secular and non-secular, are available online to include with your Thanksgiving party invitations. Little added touches such as a poem or a hand made book mark, printed with a special Thanksgiving poem will give your personalized Thanksgiving party invitations that extra little special something that says you care.

A Thoughtful Thanksgiving Grace

Every year it is the same thing. You're at the Thanksgiving theme party and you smell the hot scrumptious food stewing for hours; your mouth waters at the thought of the first taste. Minutes turn to unbearable hours. Your family members slowly accumulate and pick at whatever happens to beat the Turkey. Mom whips the potatoes while grandma makes the gravy. With everyone in such anticipation it is hard to keep your mindset on showing your appreciation for the meal before eating it. Some creativity as hostess will not only reduce the anxious crowd but also assist by involving your guests in the sharing of thankfulness prior to gobbling up the celebratory spread.

A less traditional technique can be found by inadvertently having grace recited by your guests. Pass around paper and pencils to each person. Have them write their name at the top. Instruct your guests to write a compliment or offer a thankful word for each person. This will not only take their minds off the food for a minute but it will also set the appropriate mood for the holiday. As Grace is given each guest can recite a few of their favorite remarks and relate their appreciation for the meal into the prayer. This, although not the formal thanksgiving routine, will add to the natural appreciation of the meal. The slips of paper can be collected and displayed in the centerpiece or can be incorporated into other Thanksgiving decorations.

Many sources, such as the Bible, can provide a more traditional prayer. Some individuals will find it fitting to search through a few books and come up with relevant scripture for the holiday to incorporate into the Thanksgiving prayer. Others will simply relate the year’s high points and express appreciation for allowing everyone to gather rejoice together. Health, happiness and safety of family and friends are important to celebrate. You can even include a short Thanksgiving Grace into your Thanksgiving invitations. Not everyone is great with words either. If there is a certain importance to the holiday with respect to the years happenings, some will hire a writer to compose a specific prayer designed around a specific message.

Thanksgiving Party Away from Home

For some, the best holiday spot is at their own home and hearth. Thinking of holidays, like Thanksgiving, brings to mind snow angels, scents of pine trees sparkling with glitter and lights, with family gathered to celebrate Yuletide traditions passed from generation to generation. With blended family units, and families tending to be spread far and near, more families, whether it is for large family celebrations, or small, intimate getaways, are spending holidays away from home, at holiday hot spots around the globe.

There are several vital considerations when planning the perfect holiday spot for your Thanksgiving theme party. Do you live in an area where snow is an everyday event, leaving you with a yearning for a warm, sultry getaway filled with daytime lounges on sandy beaches, long walks beneath star filled skies, and the sound of the surf singing you to sleep each night, or do you long to spend a white Christmas away from home, bundling up, hitting the slopes, and then warming up with hot cocoa in front of a crackling fire?

The mountains of Colorado never fail to provide traditional fans the perfect Thanksgiving holiday spot. Rustic mountain cabins in places like Vermont also provide privacy, and all the amenities to enjoy the snow, scenery, and ski slopes. Places like Jamaica, Christmas Island, or a Caribbean get away, can make the cold, snowy weather at home seem an eternity away. Whatever your decision, early planning of your Thanksgiving party ideas is essential. Coordinate your plans with extended, or blended, family members, whether they are joining you at your chosen holiday spot, or plan to split the holidays to accommodate child visitation schedules, or other Thanksgiving party games and celebrations. The best vacation dates and hottest holiday spots tend to be booked months in advance, so research by taking virtual tours, and consulting travel agents. Then choose the perfect holiday spot, and make all the arrangements early.

Shopping for Thanksgiving Party Supplies Online

When you need to find Thanksgiving party supplies it can be hard to find the specific type of product when you do an online search. There are millions of websites out there and millions of people trying to hawk the same items on them. You could go to tried and true places like major auction sites, but there are downsides to this practice. One, there is no guarantee that the specific product you are looking for will be there when you need it. Two, who’s to say that the person selling this product isn’t going to scam you? Three, you’ll be competing with other customers and driving up the price of the one product that is available. This is the law of Supply and Demand and when you go to auction sites there is a fifty-fifty chance that you’ll end up making the seller a lot of money and you won’t even get the product you are looking for in the end.

So do yourself a favor and avoid auction sites when you are shopping for a basic practical needs item. Auctions are wonderful, but they are usually meant for hard to find items and antiques. If you are just looking for something like Thanksgiving party favors to help round out the next party you plan on throwing there are lots of businesses online and you can to the website direct.

Looking for Thanksgiving decorations? Search Engines are where you start. There are a lot of search engines, Yahoo!, Dogpile, Ask.com, Google, etc. All of these engines have databases of the millions of websites that are online. You may want to enter your product needs into a few different search engines, because no one engine will have all the websites that exist listed on it.

Make sure that you have the name of the product you are looking for spelled correctly when you input it into the search engine. That way you’ll get the most hits possible. ‘Hits’ being the number of websites that mention the product. Some of these will be merchant sites; others will be informational sites with articles. If you want to weed out some of the informational sites you might also include the keywords, ‘for sale’, ‘prices’, and ‘stores’ in your search.

Veteran's Day Party

November 11 is the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice, ending the fighting in World War I. Veteran’s Day is celebrated in Great Britain and France but is called Armistice Day. Canada has it’s own version of Veteran’s Day called Remembrance Day, and that is exactly what veterans day is for, remembering the men and women who have served in the United States armed forces.

You are surely familiar with the decorating of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers in Arlington National Cemetery. If you’re not in Georgia around Veteran’s Day, how can you commemorate this day? Try throwing a Veteran’s Day party and have some activities planned that go along with that theme. Keep in mind this is a patriotic holiday, so Veteran's Day decorations should keep with the red, white, and blue theme. Veteran's Day invitations are available and will set the theme for your party. Want to jazz it up a little? Throw in splashes of silver or gold confetti or tinsel.

A flag raising ceremony is the perfect way to kick it off. Gather your friends and family around a flag pole and sing the Star Spangled Banner as the flag is raised. After the flag has reached its destination, have friends and family share memories of veterans they know.

Get the kids involved by having them create a mock version of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers. This can be easily achieved with a piece of painted card board or a sheet of black poster board. Have guests take turns decorating the wall with flowers made from tissue paper.

When serving dinner to the guests, keep it all American by serving the nations favorite food such as hot dogs, hamburgers, french fries and sodas. It’s easy to incorporate the red, white, and blue theme into dishes such as dessert. An American flag motif is easy to achieve on a sheet cake with the addition of white frosting, sliced strawberries, and blue berries.

Each guest will be delighted if you present them with a homemade yellow ribbon pin. The yellow ribbon is a sign of loyalty to family and friends away in the military or can be used to welcome them home from service. This makes a great Veteran's Day party favor and makes a great keepsake.

Preparing for a Thanksgiving Dinner Party

It's almost time to get ready for
Thanksgiving party planning. Depending on how you celebrate Thanksgiving, you may want to start preparing for Thanksgiving no later than the first week of November. Here are a few tips to get it together for Thanksgiving.

DECORATE EARLY - If you like to get in the spirit of the holiday with your home decor items, do that at the start of November. That way you'll have the whole month to enjoy your seasonal decor items and Thanksgiving decorations. And the remainder of the month will be free for cleaning, cooking, entertaining and enjoying Thanksgiving.

CLEAN YOUR HOME - Expecting guests this Thanksgiving? Set a date with your immediate family members to do a thorough housecleaning. That means doing windows and shampooing carpets too as needed. Make your family housecleaning date the week before that of Thanksgiving. (And then you'll only have to do touch up the day before guests arrive.) During the week of Thanksgiving your schedule will be packed with cooking and shopping for related supplies.

CLEAN YOUR FRIDGE - A good time to clean the inside of your refrigerator is when you have the least amount of food in it. That won't be during the holidays. So do it now. While you're at it, make room for the turkey in it. You'll be defrosting it in the refrigerator.

INVENTORY YOUR COOKWARE - When you're about to cook the turkey isn't the time to remember you loaned your only roasting pan to Aunt Sue three months ago. Take a good hard look inside your cabinets to make sure you have appropriate cookware and serving utensils and platters to prepare a Thanksgiving meal.

COUNT YOUR GUESTS - How many people are coming to your house for Thanksgiving dinner? Start getting r.s.v.p.'s in early November. Figure you'll be serving about one pound to 1.3 pounds of turkey per guest (based on a whole turkey). Once you know the number of guests, you can buy the appropriate size turkey.

COUNT YOUR DISHES - Make sure you have enough dinner plates and eating utensils to go around. Having an extra set or two of table settings won't hurt either--just in case you get an unexpected visitor or a plate accidentally cracks. Thanksgiving party supplies are easy to come by if you need paper plates or cups for the kids.

PLAN FOR LEFTOVERS - The words Thanksgiving and leftovers go together. You won't be eating turkey sandwiches for the remainder of the week if you have nothing to store the leftover turkey in. And of course, you don't want to throw out that leftover cranberry or corn or any of it. If you plan to send some leftovers home with the guests, make sure you have some "throw-away" containers that you can pack for them to take and keep.

If you organized and planned for Thanksgiving, you'll probably have a happy one. Enjoy.

Thanksgiving Party Ideas

Happy Thanksgiving! You've invited a dozen guests to your
Thanksgiving party and they're all expecting to eat. You know that you don't want to spend the whole holiday in the kitchen, so what are you going to do? Get up at 3 am to put a turkey in the oven? No. How about buying a precooked turkey this year or even purchasing deli sliced turkey and cheese for a sandwich buffet? That way your guests can eat while they mingle, you won't be in the kitchen while everyone's talking and there won't be a bunch of dishes to clean up.

Most Thanksgiving parties involve a lot of people, your relatives, and his relatives, some who don't get along; all trying to cram in at the dinner table in a house that suddenly feels too small. When things are like this it may be time to hold your party outside. You can easily hold a party at a park this time of year in the warmer climes. Or if you happen to live in a cold part of the country then invite people to join you at a restaurant or rent a dining hall in your area with lots of space. Do the cooking at home the day before and just head on over. Brind your own Thanksgiving decorations if they are not supplied by the dining hall.

For those of you who like to take on new things this time of year may be a good time to introduce the family to a new way of eating. It may simply be eating healthier that you want to stress with less starches and more fruits and veggies on the Thanksgiving menu. Or you can really take a risk and cook a tofu turkey. Your guests may love it. They may also hate it and some not even notice.

Thanksgiving Invitations

A Thanksgiving theme party can easily take advantage of the autumn colors and atmosphere to accent the event, so why not also create fun and memorable Thanksgiving invitations.

The Fall Leaf Invitation is fun and you can create it for both children’s parties and adult’s. Your kids will love going outside to gather up the prettiest looking leaves for their invitations.

You’ll need:

• Colorful leaves

• Wax paper

• Iron

• Paper towels

• Cardstock

• Glue

Go outside and collect as many leaves as you need to have one leaf per invitation. When you have your specimens gathered prepare to iron them between the wax paper. The average invitation should be about four by six inches. Cut out two pieces of wax paper and one piece of cardstock per leaf.

When you have the Iron hot enough place the leaf between the two sheets of wax paper and iron them together. Be sure to place a sheet of paper towel on the top and bottom so that melted wax doesn’t soak into whatever you are ironing on. Once you have each of your leaves ironed into their respective wax paper sheets you can begin attaching them to the cardstock.

Cut out enough pieces of cardstock for each of your wax paper sheets. These should also be four by six inches. Carefully lay out a continuous bead of glue along the outside rim of the cardstock and line up one of the wax paper sheets on top of it. Press firmly and let dry. Once this is dry you have the perfect fall leave invitation. Write your invitation information on the back of the cardstock.

You can pick out a pretty colored cardstock to match your bright colorful Thanksgiving decorations. The optimal colors would be more pastel versions of the vibrant reds, oranges, yellows and browns that you would normally see in your fall leaves.
