Administrative Professional Week (Secretary's Day) Celebration
This annual holiday was originally organized in 1952 as "National Secretaries Week" by the National Secretaries Association (a.k.a. the International Association of Administrative Professionals) in conjunction with a consortium of office product manufacturers. It was established as an effort to recognize secretaries for their contributions in the workplace. The NSA wanted to attract people to secretarial/administrative careers. Secretaries Day is not an official national holiday, it is a people holiday. This day is celebrated worldwide, bringing together millions of people for community events, educational seminars, and individual corporate activities recognizing support staff with gifts of appreciation. In the United States cards and bouquets of flowers often arrive on the desk of our Secretaries.
Many bosses take their employees out to lunch to celebrate Secretaries day. Gifts such as flowers or personalized gifts are a nice way to say, "thank you." Why not, this year, have an office party for the secretaries in your office. Decorative supplies such as patterned plates, cups and napkins would add to the festiveness of this holiday. Planned games and activities would help to get the whole office involved and create a healthy morale. Before everyone heads back to their desk, don't forget to distribute party favors for everyone to continue the good morale this party has create in inquiring what party favor each received.
